Belize Offshore Company FormationBelize, formerly British Honduras, is located on the Caribbean seaboard of Central America. It lies to the south of Mexico and is bounded by Guatemala to the west and south. It became a British Colony in 1862 and gained independence in 1981. Belize is an exporter of agricultural produce and tourism is a major industry. The finance sector is expanding. Belize is a parliamentary democracy with a population of about 300,000 of which some 60,000 live in Belize City, which is the major commercial centre. The administrative capital is Belmopan. It is ethnically diverse with people of Caribbean, Caucasian, and Chinese and East Indian origin as well as the descendants of the original Mayan inhabitants. Executive Authority is exercised by the Prime Minister and Cabinet. The country is a member of the United Nations, the Commonwealth and the non-aligned movement. Belize Financial Services The International Business Company Act of 1990 enabled the formation of the offshore business company, which is used by non-residents for their international trading and investment purposes. It must generally conduct its activities outside of Belize although a limited number of onshore activities are permitted. Other forms of company are the Limited Life Company, introduced by the Limited Life Companies Act 1999 and the protected cell company. Belize offshore company formation regulations
