Anguilla is the most northerly of the Leeward Islands in the Caribbean. It is a British Dependant Territory with a land mass of only 90sq. km. It is governed by a Legislative Council of elected members presided over by a British appointed Governor. The language is English and the legal system is based on English common law. There are no currency restrictions and there is no income tax, capital gains tax or estate tax.
The type of company utilised by non-residents is the Anguilla International Business Company, which is governed by the Anguilla International Business Companies Ordinance 1994. The company may be used for trade or investment but is restricted from conducting business with persons resident on Anguilla. It may not engage in banking, insurance, investment management, or trust and company management business.
